LDT's mission is to provide dance and theater works with themes created mainly from Caribbean, African and African American's rich history and culture to the people of New York State, the Caribbean islands and other international countries. In addition LDT wants to present works inspired by different social, environmental and global issues that are affecting everyone, especially youth around the world.
LDT’s motto itself, “Reclaiming History, Re-invigorating Life”; on the one hand the company presents issues that focuses on the erased and/or partly erased history and culture of people of color in particular in the Caribbean islands and connected experience worldwide while on the other hand LDT presents global, environmental and social issues affecting everyone, showing (depicting) our common human experience where compassion, respect, acceptance should be practiced. Whatever program LDT presents, it ends in hope, on a positive note, the audience can take with them and hopefully help create some positive change (s) in their own immediate environment; to hopefully have a ripple effect for all.
LDT also uses intergenerational groups, depending on the project presented and besides professional performers, it employs others who are passionate in a particular performance field of interest. Every program also has some audience participation.
Liberata Dance Theatre, Inc. (LDT) is a company that in addition to dance uses other disciplines, depending on the project, to explore the true history, culture and issues of Caribbean people and others of African origin. LDT also explores current, social, environmental and global issues which affect and connect us all. Our goal is to educate, remind, share, to entertain and always, ALWAYS, end up with HOPE.
Our motto is “Reclaiming History, and Reinvigorating Life” and we work with professionals in the field and
others, who are passionate within an intergenerational community.
LDT became active in 2005, the ideas for it have started to grow decades prior to that. Many of the themes in the works presented are dedicated to our mission. Althoug

LDT became active in 2005, the ideas for it have started to grow decades prior to that. Many of the themes in the works presented are dedicated to our mission. Although the company was formed in 2003, prior to the nonprofit
being launched, creative works related to the issues LDT later continued to focus on once the company was officially established.

Mixed Level Hatha Yoga Classes:
Different poses of a Hatha Yoga class will be suggested and students can choose which part is comfortable (or suits ) their level; the same with other segments of the class. Everybody will be encouraged to listen to the body as it is our best teacher with no competition with anyone, not even with ourselves, letting the breath guide us gently in and out of the poses, but challenging ourselves with love. Separate Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced classes, also available.
Based on the principles of a regular Hatha Yoga class, different modifications will be offered, so everyone can work to their comfort level. There is no ONE perfect way to do a pose. Yoga meets you where you are. The use of props is an essential part of this class, to aid in executing the poses and every other part of the class. Class can be done seated on a chair, standing close to a wall for support and on the floor.
A yoga class to maintain a healthy and strong body and the same precautions as is in the other classes will be focused on.
Restorative Yoga
The entire class is a process of being instead of doing; done from one of the most preferred poses, savasana, lying flat on the floor. Guided meditation, touch, breathwork, are the tools of restorative therapeutic yoga, that help students into relaxation; lots of props will be used to guide students into
restorative poses.
Chair Yoga for Seniors
The class consists of gentle stretches, bending, twisting in all directions, to counteract some wear and tear, in a fun, releasing, relaxing manner; focusing on ALWAYS creating space, lengthening the spine. Connecting with one another, counteracting isolation that sometimes comes with reaching senior age.
